The Kasych Family Pavilion

Learn about our new seven-story patient care tower

Opened in January 2008, the Kasych Family Pavilion was built with your health care needs in mind. Before construction began, we identified the health care services you need most. We also asked you what your ideal hospital would be like. Kasych brings it all together. Here is what it includes:

Private rooms – All of Kasych’s patient rooms are private to provide you with a quieter, more peaceful time in the hospital.

Regional Burn Center – This new 18-bed facility on Kasych’s third floor is twice the size of its former location. More space means more available beds for patients who have burn injuries.

Expanded heart care – A new state-of-the-art unit on the third floor provides care to patients recovering from heart surgery.

Intensive care units – More beds and leading-edge equipment are available on these second floor units for patients who need specialized care.

Medical-surgical units – Located on floors 4-6, these units provide a total of 90 beds.

Classroom and education space – Eight rooms on the first floor host the hundreds of classes, lectures and workshops we offer to help you learn how to improve your health.

Patient safety is a top priority at Lehigh Valley Hospital. That’s why each patient room in Kasych has a:

  • Ceiling lift to prevent injury and help patients feel comfortable when they are moved.
  • Locked medication drawer that caregivers access with their ID badge to ensure patients receive medication quickly.
  • Medication barcode scanner to ensure patients receive the right medication and dose at the right time.
  • Code blue button that caregivers push to summon a team of caregivers to the room when a patient needs immediate care.

Kasych is a “green” building. It is environmentally friendly because:

  • Recycled building materials were used during its construction.
  • All building materials were purchased from companies within 500 miles of LVH-Cedar Crest, saving gasoline and creating less pollution.
  • All patient room, waiting rooms and other occupied areas have large windows to make the most use of natural light.
  • Areas that are not occupied, like storage rooms, have motion sensors that turn on the lights when someone enters and shuts them off when motion is no longer detected.
  • Its systems are energy efficient.

Kasych also is home to several works of art created by Lehigh Valley artists. Located in the lobby and as you exit the elevator on each floor, the art lowers stress and creates a healing environment.
